Statement of Significance
B Listed - Regional Significance
'Kelvin' erected 1873 as an asymmetrically planned two store dichromatic brick house of Victorian eclectic style, is an interesting example of the work of architects Davidsons and Henderson. It is eclipsed for picturesque effect by 'Belle Ville' at Ryrie Street (1869) and 'Fernside' on Western Beach (1976), also by these architects. The original detailing and ornamentation at 'Kelvin' is exemplary. Frederick Harvey, of the grain merchant firm Harvey and Dan, was a prominent Geelong miller of the later nineteenth century.
