Hamilton Lamb Memorial Hall - Veterans Description for Public
The Hamilton Lamb Memorial Hall, at 13 Kalkee Road, was opened in 1959. It is dedicated to the memory of Lieutenant George Hamilton Lamb, known as "Hammy", 2/2 Pioneer Battalion and Citizens Military Force. Lamb was elected as the Country Party member for the seat of Lowan in 1935 and re-elected while a Prisoner of War on the Burma Railway, where would die of illness on 7th December 1943. Lamb was the only politican to die of the 177 Australian politicians who served in the Second World War.
