Statement of Significance
Outstanding aesthetic significance
Outstanding example of species
This Black Mulberry (Morus nigra) is an outstanding example of the species in a suburban private garden that dates from the late 19th to early 20th century. The tree was planted by the Sutherland Family of Kasouka Road, Camberwell, who occupied the house from the time it was built c.1895 until the late 1970s. The tree is one of the earliest examples of the species planted in the Camberwell locality still alive, in good form and condition, and which still produces abundant fruit.
