Statement of Significance
STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
A characteristic timber late Italianate house with some unusual elements built in 1892. It is architecturally significant as an unusual variant on this domestic style and historically in embodying the comfortable family life of a skilled craftsman in Newtown immediately prior to the economic crash of 1892.
INTACTNESS: Good - Fence (and canted bay) are later.

Residence 52-54 - Physical Description 1
DESCRIPTION
An almost symmetrical double-fronted hipped roof Italianate timber house. It has convex hipped verandah across with a cast-iron lace bay window. At ends are diagonal latticed screens. Eaves have spindle ogee brackets and frieze mould. Chimneys have classical moulds. Windows unusually have 12-pane double-hung sashes, tripartite.
