STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
One of only two 1850's buildings by the architects Walter Ferrier, remaining in Geelong. It is a substantial reminder of, the importance of the route to the goldfields fro Geelong, and the local hub of activity during the brickfields era. It is of regional significance.

The excellent photograph of the hotel prior to external alterations could be used in the future to restore the original window openings and decorative treatment if restorative treatment desired.

Saleyards Hotel - Physical Description 1
DESCRIPTION
The stuccoed facade of this two storey building is articulated by projecting panels containing arch-headed windows angled entrance also projects from the main wall plane. In the upper floor the fenestration pattern remains with paired rectangular windows interspersed with arch-headed ones, however the lower floor has been completely altered as shown in the early photograph taken c1930. The hotel has been extensively renovated internally and externally has lost all string courses, label and hood mouldings and quoining
