Shop & Residence - Physical Description 1
DESCRIPTION
26 Mercer Street is a double storey brick and render Victorian building with a large verandah over the footpath. The building is semidetached and features an unusual parapet with a central recessed pediment element, as well as large decorative scrolls, a heavy cornice and eaves brackets. The first floor has double hung sash windows with slightly protruding architraves and rendered quoining to both sides of the facade. The ground floor has been substantially altered and the facade consists of tiled walling and large glass shop front windows. The recently constructed verandah has timber posts and signage on the fascia and features a pediment section to match the element on the parapet above. Other details include a tall corbelled brick chimney and a string line above the canopy to mark the first floor.
