House - Physical Description 1
The house at 44 Eastgate Street, Pascoe Vale South, is a quadruple fronted postwar dwelling with a sizable front garden.
The dwelling is constructed of cream brick with contrasting horizontal accents in dark brick along the facade and on the window sills. The roof is hipped with black and brown tiles which appear to be fairly recent replacements provided in a sympathetic style. A tall cream brick chimney protrudes from the roof and contains some dark brick horizontal accents. The chimney breast is also visible from the outside of the building. Multi-paned windows are steel framed and painted white, which wrap around several corners of the building. The front entrances is covered by a cantilevered section of the hipped roof which is supported by a dark brick post.
The house has a deep setback, with a well maintained front garden planted with trimmed topiaries, roses, mature trees and shrubbery. Brick masonry of the same colour as the house has been used in the front fence. The fence has been modified to include a more recent metal insert and gate.
The broader setting characterised by neighbouring houses shows continued low-density residential suburbia, with the majority of dwellings also being mid-twentieth century houses, interspersed with some California Bungalows and the occasional example of Interwar Spanish Mission.
