Statement of Significance
Architecturally, one of the best and the earliest surviving of the highly individual Prairie School styled R.I.E.Co. designs in Australia, allowing full vent to the school's use of traditional' forms and details: of national importance.
Historically, locally important as using a process invented by a Moonee Ponds resident and a landmark in the effects of total urbanisation in the city.

MUNICIPAL INCINERATOR (FORMER) - Physical Description 1
Oriental in form with its Hide-span, flared twin-gabled roof and Aztec in detail (cf Ninomaru Palace Hall, Kyoto; Shrine to the Sun Goddess, lse), the incinerator is distinguishable as from the American 'Prairie School of domestic architecture. The unpainted cement and Marseilles pattern terracotta tiles provide natural and contrasting finishes. The characteristic overlapping gables of the roof ate visible from the north end only, the workshop obscures the south end.
Mature landscaping from the period is evident.
MUNICIPAL INCINERATOR (FORMER) - Integrity
Alterations have occurred to the roof and recent renovations have replaced dressed with off-saw timbers, but otherwise the exterior is generally original.
MUNICIPAL INCINERATOR (FORMER) - Physical Description 2
Streetscape
Isolated and set back, within landscape; subject of views from Tilba Street and Park Crescent.
