This house occupied the whole corner block (see MMBW plans), subdivided (late 1920/30) with the flats now occupying along Hotham and Balaclava. It was named Englefield and was the home of Sir John Swanson, Lord Mayor of Melbourne 1922-24, Swanson Brothers Builders, President Master builders, Freemason He died there in 1924, lady Alice died there in 1926.both buried in St Kilda Cemetery.
