The c1950 house and the site to the title boundaries
How is it significant?
The house is historically, aesthetically and architecturally significant to the Shire of Nillumbik.
Why is it significant?
The house is historically and architecturally significant as an early example of the use of pise-de-terre and mud brick building techniques in the Shire and because it is associated with John Harcourt, a pioneer in this type of construction (Criterion D). The house is aesthetically significant because it forms part of a group of mud brick homes constructed by John Harcourt in "The Hill" area above the Diamond Creek (Criterion E).
