HOUSES - Physical Description 1
The houses at 24-26 Barry Street, Brunswick are an unusual example of semi-detached inter-war residences. Single storey, the houses are clinker brick with a deep painted rendered band under the eave line. Timber courses frame the rendered band, beneath the lower string course is a band of clinker bricks laid vertically rather than horizontally. The houses are roughly symmetrical - No. 26 is entered via a central entrance, whilst No. 24 is entered via an entrance wing to the left of the main body of the houses. The houses have a gabled terracotta tiled roof with rendered chimneys with brick caps terminating each gable end (north-south). There is a large stylised painted rendered pediment above the central entrance, with a moulded terracotta relief in the centre of the pediment. Windows are double-hung sashes with multi-pane uppers; the doors are unknown.
The houses do not appear to retain their original fences.HOUSES - Physical Conditions
