How is it significant?
The former shop and dwelling at 177 Victoria Street, Brunswick is of local historic significance to the City of Moreland.
Why is it significant?
For its ability to demonstate a typical early 19th century shop and residence, in an area which was, from 1888 to the 1920s, the principle shopping strip in this area of Brunswick. The building retains many typical features of its type, including a faceted frontage to Victoria Street and remnants of advertising still visible on its parapet. (AHC Criteria B.2 & D.2)

177 Victoria Street is an Edwardian brick shop and residence with a corrugated galvanised steel roof. The shop has a brick parapet, original double timber doors, and remnant painted advertising on its frontage. The shop windows, although timber, may not be original.
