How is it significant?
The former warder's cottage at 22 O'Hea Street, Coburg is of local historic significance to the City of Moreland.
Why is it significant?
Of historic significance, as a reasonably intact example of the type of cottage that most of the Pentridge Prison warders and staff owned or rented in Coburg, within 800 yards of the prison, between 1863 and 1900. 22 O'Hea Street was purpose-built for a prison warder in 1874 in a location chosen because of its proximity to the prison. (AHC Criterion B.2)

Warder's cottage (former) - Physical Description 1
The former warder's cottage at 22 O'Hea Street, Coburg is a simple double-fronted weatherboard cottage with a hipped corrugated iron roof and verandah, supported by 1950s round painted steel posts. The cottage retains one rendered brick chimney. The two front windows have been replaced with aluminium sliding windows.
