Statement of Significance
The ACI Building, designed in 1964 by Buchan Laird & Buchan, is among the earliest totally pre-cast concrete modular and structural facades in Melbourne and the first free-standing tower of this type in the CBD. It is also part of a significant group of internationally inspired office designs, built as the Head Office of one of Australia's foremost companies, Australian Consolidated Industries, and winner of the Victorian Architecture Award in 1968.
