Statement of Significance
An imposing 'town' church in cement faced brickwork designed by Rodney Alsop and built in 1927-28, comprising a tower and spire, octagonal baptistery, nave, chancel, vestries and side chapel. Alsop's only known church design, the exterior is dominated by an elegant broach spire and incorporates an unbroken roof ridge. Internally, the nave is lit by tall clerestory windows rising above narrow passage aisles. The elevated chancel converges upon an apsidal sanctuary ingeniously placed within a square east end. The building contains one of the finest collections of Napier Waller stained glass, together with the only known Australian examples of windows by Sir Ninian Camper.
