Statement of Significance
Church Statement of Significance:
A bluestone Gothic church erected in 1853-4 to the design of Charles Vickers, this is one of the earliest surviving substantial suburban churches in Melbourne, notable for its picturesque composition and siting. It comprises a three-bay nave, transepts, chancel and a timber octagonal turret to the north-west. Additions were made to the building between 1873-1953 including vestries, organ chamber and porch. The interior is notable for its elaborate wooden chancel screen, imported and local stained glass.Organ by Alfred Hunter, London, installed in 1877.

Organ Statement of Significance:
A two-manual organ of 19 speaking stops built in 1876 by the noted London organ builder Alfred Hunter with additions and alterations by William Anderson in 1877 and George Fincham in 1898. The only substantially unaltered Hunter organ remaining in Victoria, this instrument is of interest for its unusual casework and retention of its original console and mechanism.
