Statement of Significance
The Victoria Bond Store which was constructed in 1887 originally ran from Lonsdale Street to Little Bourke Street and was the first building in Australia to have a wrought iron structural frame. It was designed by George Jobbins. Only the rear walls remain and are significant as a backdrop to Merritt's Place and consolidate the warehouse character of the corner of Lonsdale and King Streets.
