Statement of Significance
The oldest Greek Orthodox Church in Melbourne, built in 1900-02 to the design of Inskip and Butler, in a style described at the time as "Byzantine of the Orthodox character". The omission of the central tower with octagonal drum and large onion dome, as well as smaller onion domes to each of the four corners and the gross simplification of the entrance porch have detracted considerably from the original scheme. The triple apse motif of the east end and the unusual brickwork of the surmounting gable, remain as distinctive elements.
