Statement of Significance
A compact, intergrated gold mining area, outstanding for the diversity of mining forms and associated works, blending into a rugged landscape untouched by other land uses. Included within the Historic Place are nine quartz mines with adits, shafts, open cuts, quarries and mullock heaps: two major alluvial areas containing sluice lines, stone walls and dumps, bounded by heavily sluiced creek banks: vehicle tracks, crushing battery, battery remains, brick kiln and ruins of buildings; and a large number of water races with associated collection and storage dams.
