Statement of Significance
Theaden homestead was erected in the 1840s (either by T.B. Alexander, or George Simmonds if after 1845), on run 150 Western Port District. Alexander acquired the land in 1838, and called it The Den (Theaden). It was bought by George Simmonds in 1845. The homestead was moved and reconstructed at the Kyneton Museum site at 67 Piper Street in 1969. Considerable material had to be replaced, but it is a fine example of the type of building in the area from 1837-1860. It consists of two rooms of 'droplog' construction, with a granite chimney.
