Statement of Significance
The lighthouse, two other bluestone buildings and a double privy, of which the lighthouse and keeper's buildings, originally erected on Middle Island and re-erected on their present site 1870-71, with additions in 1875 and 1890, now form the nucleus of a Maritime Museum.
The lighthouse complex is a fine example of Public Works Department achitecture of the 1850's in Victoria and is important for its associations with the history of shipping in and around Warnambool in the 19th century.
