Statement of Significance
Tree which occurs in a unique location or context and so provides a contribution to an historic garden or park;
Rare or Localised
Outstanding Example of Species
This species, a native of California, is uncommon in cultivation in Victoria. This fine specimen is a central feature of the axial path surrounded by a large circular bed. Inflorescence arches out from the tree canopy in a spectacular fashion. The tree forms a major contribution to the landscape of the park, notable for its axial pathways which make skilful use of the sloping site. There are only two examples known in Victoria, the other in the Royal Botanic Gardens.
