655 BOURKE STREET - Heritage Inventory Description
Originally RC Church land (may contain evidence of asylum & school). Current building constructed 1876. Building associated with the expanding pastoral industry & need for fencing materials, etc.; Ironmongers & machinery shop. 1877 & 1905 maps - 1 storey building, McLean Bros. & Rigg, Machinery Merchants
Heritage Inventory Significance: May contain evidence of RC school & asylum an site prior to church selling land west of St Augustine's to McLean Bros. Site of part of Block 16, initially set aside for Government purposes. May therefore contain evidence of pre-Grid & early settlement due to peripheral nature of structures and poor documentation.
Archeological Potential: Extant bldg Fabric,Potential/Disturbed
