First land sale 1837, Block 3, Allotment 11, John Hodgson.1839 -two buildings. 1840 - building, 'Melbourne Chambers'. Early occupiers of lot include Rowe & Co., Manufacturing Chemists; H Harrington, Druggist; Book & Stationery Warehouse.1877 - three-storey building, London Chartered Bank to Collins St;four storey building, to lane. 1888 - same building to lane; three and four storey building, London Chartered Bank of Australia.1905 - same buildings and occupant,one other building to lane.
