Lake View Hotel - Physical Description 1
The earliest reference to the Lake View Hotel was in the Courier 22 September 1875 when it was owned by T.Gill.
The hotel is an important streetscape element on its corner site, overlooking lake Wendouree. The Mill Street facade is substantially intact, although the bar windows have been altered drastically. The modern additions detract from the original building. The two storey cast iron verandah is the major feature of the hotel. The ground floor has no frieze iron, only cast iron brackets terminating in small drop pendant. The first floor balcony has a balustrade of sway bellied cast iron panels of a pleasing light, open design. The cast iron columns have smaller brackets with pendant drops supporting a frieze of cast iron between timber horizontal members.
