Williamstown Naval Torpedo Depot - Veterans Description for Public
The Williamstown Naval Torpedo Depot was established in 1870. The Torpedo Depot became the home and training facility for naval vessels, with both the HMV Nelson and Cerberus based here. The Torpedo Depot became the Williamtown Naval Depot in 1885, before it was moved to HMAS Cerberus in Westernport Bay in 1920. A torpedo boat slip was shown on plans for this area in 1890.
