Craignethorn - Physical Description 1
A large flats block, designed to appear as one mansion. The roof is prominent but simple being hipped and tiled. Below the walls are executed in render (still retaining the ochre wash) and cream brick. The render extends to the ground floor sill level for all but the entrance feature where bricks are used in the body of the walls. At the head of door and window openings, cream tapestry bricks in two thin courses provide a fine emphasis to the wide openings. The windows are multi-paned in Georgian fashion. The balconies incorporate fine horizontal balustrades, and steel is also used for windows to the stair. An early fence and complimentary garden completes the scheme.
