Statement of Significance
STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
A timber Italianate house built inc c1870, with major alterations in the Californian Bungalow manner. It has architectural significance of these style, and in particular details such as the eaves valence. It has historic significance in demonstrating a sequence of occupancy and as a representative embodiment of life in Newtown in both periods.
INTACTNESS: Very good. The window may have been replaced with casements. The picket fence is recent.
CONDITIONS AND THREATS: Excellent.

DESCRIPTION
A triple-fronted late Edwardian timber hip-roofed house. The left front and right side rear bays project as gables. The upper gables jetty on brackets clad with timbering and pressed metal in a rough cast pattern. There is a skillion window-hood on fretwork brackets. The verandah is under the hip, around the angle, with a palisade rail valence and brackets and has turned posts. It is round-arched at ends. Chimneys have terracotta pots and corbelled brick bands.
