Statement of Significance
B listed - Regional Significance
STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
Dating from 1872 additions in the 1880s, this early timber cottage has regional historical significance as an example of the working man's cottages built on small allotments on the lower slopes towards the river and was occupied by building artisans and during the 1880s, by a local jeweller. It has regional architectural significance as a relatively intact early cottage. Of particular interest are the rare fretwork barges, valence and brackets. Of further interest is the sequence of additions illustrating the developing needs of the (third) owner.
