Residence "Orepuki" - Physical Description 1
Description
The house is set on a very large allotment fronting Beach Parade and Wattletree Road. There are a number of outbuildings which appear contemporary with the house, or if not, are quite sympathetic. The house has a main hipped roof with and integrated return verandah and two intersecting gable roofs. The gables have unusual bracketed gablets and the window hoods have similar brackets. The verandah is a restrained design of paired and trebled square posts with a minimum of fretwork detailing, giving the appearance of a more 'modern' design than the more ornamented 5 Glenleith Avenue. The render and face brick chimneys are however very similar to 5 Glenleith Avenue which is believed to have been designed in 1912 by Angus Laird of Buchan Laird and Buchan. The front fence is a later addition.
