Residence - Physical Description 1
DESCRIPTION
54 Elizabeth Street is a single storey brick building with a hipped roof and convex verandah in corrugated iron. The front elevation is symmetrical with a central front door and double-hung window on either side. The chimneys are also placed symmetrically. The brown/blue bricks are tuck pointed and contrast with the cement render quoin work around the door and windows and the wall angles. The use of quoin work is unusual in the 1880's however the decorated edges of this quoin work are a contribution to the more elaborate architecture of the Late Victorian period. The decorative doorway with adjacent sidelights and fine joinery complement the detailed and delicate cast iron lace valance, brackets, spandrel and columns of the verandah. The tiled garden path and the outbuildings are also of interest.
