Residence - Physical Description 1
Aspects of 'Carisbrook' are very similar to several other houses in Geelong West. These include 44 Lawton Avenue, 27 and 29 Lupton Street, 21 Beach Parade and 5 Glenleith Avenue. The last example is known to be designed by the Geelong architect Angus Laird and 'Carisbrook' may also be one of his designs. Similar elements include the chimneys, porthole window, bay window design and the overall form of the building. Noteworthy elements of this house include the roof decoration, the returned verandah with a projecting gable splayed at the corner and delicate timber fretwork. The hipped and gabled roof is clad in corrugated iron and the walls are clad in weatherboard.
