Residence - Physical Description 1
Aspects of 27 Lupton Street are very similar to several other houses in Geelong West. These include 29 Lupton Street, 38 and 44 Lawton Avenue, 21 Beach Parade and 5 Glenleith Avenue. 38 Lawton Avenue most closely resembles this house in that it has the same roof form, the projecting gable porch is similar but with a variation in the strapping decoration, the chimneys and port hole window are the same. Noticeable differences include the double doors and timber shingles (commonly used on Bungalows) and the verandah valance of fine iron lace. The geometric design of the iron lace more closely resembles the timber fretwork of the Edwardian period than the curved and floral designs of the Victorian period. The adjacent house at 29 Lupton Avenue has a more extensive use of this form of decoration and it may have been produced at the foundry opposite.
