Furnival Chambers - Physical Description 1
The facade of this building provides a pleasing Renaissance Revival composition, which has been somewhat altered. An early photo of c.1880 shows the plain parapet used for sign writing, tabernacle window hoods to the upper floor windows and openings to the ground floor corresponding to the upper floor. The ground floor elevation has been substantially altered but the pilasters and incised banded rustication are important original elements.
Internally, there are certain intact elements. The arches to the plain central passage are intact. At the rear is an interesting skylit hallway (possibly early) with crude chamfered rafters flanked on either side by two wings.Furnival Chambers - Integrity
