The house, constructed c.1914, at 27 Carnarvon Street, Brunswick.
How is it significant?
The house at 27 Carnarvon Street, Brunswick is of local aesthetic significance to the City of Moreland.
Why is it significant?
Aesthetically, it is significant as a representative example of a reasonably intact late Edwardian house, which contributes to the historic character of Carnarvon Street and forms part of a group of notable Edwardian era residences that also includes Nos. 29-31. (AHC Criterion E.1)

CHEWTON - Physical Description 1
'Chewton' at 27 Carnarvon Street, Brunswick is a block fronted asymmetrical Edwardian timber villa'. It has a complex corrugated iron (new) hip roof with minor gablets that incorporates the return verandah. Notable features include:
- the verandah detailing, which retains original timber fretwork, turned timber verandah posts
- the box bay window under the verandah and the leadlight porthole window. Other windows in the side elevations are double hung sash.
- the two brick and render chimneys with terracotta pots.
