HOUSE - Physical Description 1
The house at 230 Victoria Street, Brunswick is a single storey, double fronted Victorian timber house. It is separated from its neighbour at 232 Victoria Street by a cobbled carriage driveway that appears to represent an easement across both properties.
The house is rectangular in form with an M-shaped roof in corrugated iron. Two red brick, stepped chimneys are visible from the street. The front facade is symmetrical with a central doorway and paired double-hung sash windows to either side. The facade is clad in timber block work. The architraves on the windows and to the central door are flat boards with curved edges; similar detailing can be seen at 234 Victoria Street.
The bull-nosed verandah extends across the front facade. Cast iron lace with central drops is set onto turned timber posts. Below the eaves are paired pendant brackets and Edwardian mouldings. The front door has sidelight windows.
The house appears substantially intact with few external changes to the front facade. The fence is more recent than the dwelling as are the garden plantings.HOUSE - Physical Conditions
