METHODIST PARSONAGE - Physical Description 1
From the rate books of East Ballarat it would appear that this parsonage was built in 1872, when James Brick ford was in residence.
This essentially simple two storey building is constructed of fine plain brickwork. The chimneys appears to have been extended in patterned brickwork and the verandah, with a cast iron frieze added in the1890's. The original facade, without the verandah, would have 'been austere, the only ornamentation being the brackets below the eaves. The parsonage forms a group with the adjacent church, the face brickwork of which unfortunately has been painted, and the church hall. This building is also an important part of the area, complementary to East Ballarat Fire Station, and former East Ballarat Library. It is a 'survivor from this once important area of local government.
