Waverley - Physical Description 1
An unexpected combination of classical features from the Victorian period, with Queen Anne details, makes this building an unusual garden villa. The house is substantially single storey with a two storey wing at the rear. A slate roof, at Victorian pitch, carries across all sections of the house.
Below, the eaves contain a prominent course of modillions and brackets. This continues to the two storey portion where it is decoratively broken by an arched opening to the central window. A timber veranda with timber details returns from the front to the garden side. The walls are the expected red brick with rough cast render bands, and the gable ends are half timbered and rough cast. A finial is prominently positioned on the forward gable.
The house is set in substantial grounds.
