Boatsheds And Kane's Foot Bridge, Studley Park - Physical Description 1
In 1928 a foot bridge was erected to link Kew with the public golf course across the Yarra 1. The total cost of construction came to £2,600, towards which the Government contributed £1,500 and the Kew Council £250 2 and subsequently the bridge became known as Kane's Bridge. During the 1934 floods the bridge was washed downstream.', however it has subsequently been rebuilt. The bridge is a handsome structure, being suspended from tensioned cables that are hung from two piers of undressed tree trunks.
Boatsheds have occupied the site since the 1860s and the group of sheds appear to have been built at various dates. They are all clad in weatherboards and include a boat store, kiosk, and residence. The residence is Edwardian and has particularly fine timber decoration. As a group they combine to form a most picturesque cluster of buildings that enhance their park setting.
