HOUSE - Physical Description 1
Bungalow style with a formerly open two-level sleep-out and entry porch, here the typical elements of the style, such as green stained shingling, trellised gable vent, expressed eaves brackets and rafter-ends, are complemented by the uncommon patterned and textured render to the upper walls. The overall steeply gabled and symmetrical attic form is seen in more austere circumstances at 183 Cashmere Street (qv) and in a larger, later form at 25 Outlook Drive, Eaglemont (1928). The design is nevertheless uncommon, as is the unpainted stucco.
HOUSE - Integrity
The 'sleep-out' porch or balcony appears to have been enclosed at an early date; this may also have occurred at ground-level; the fence appears to have been replaced (requires confirmation); all alterations are sympathetic to the original.
HOUSE - Physical Description 2
The earliest house in this part of the Travancore Estate and therefore of a differing style, its siting and form however relate generally to the stuccoed, detached villa mode nearby.
