Statement of Significance
Architecturally, a complete example of the successful fusion of domestic stylistic steams (Bungalow, Oriental and Spanish) in its original landscape setting and on a prominent islands site: of regional importance.
Historically, little is known of the Chapple family.

SANTA CASA HOUSE - Physical Description 1
Sited on an island and made prominent by the backdrop of trees along the railway, this is a T-plan, rough cast stuccoed house, with intersecting gabled roofs clad with cement Cordova pattern tiles.
Gabled chimney shafts broaden below the roofline and create-a central 'nose' element on each gabled face, to complement the 'eyes' created by the small casement windows. Orientally inspired, bas relief occurs as 'eyebrows' whilst similarly derive wave patterns trim the entrance and side porch parapets. A gentle scallop profile to the stuccoed masonry fence is almost covered by a rope-pattern, clipped privet hedge. The trim colours may be original.
Streetscape
A prominent island element in a diverse architectural environment which achieves much from its proximity to the mature tree avenue along the railway.Heritage Study and Grading
