Statement of Significance
The houses at nos. 55-57 Vine Street, Moonee Ponds, were in existence by 1890. They are aesthetically important. This importance (Criterion E) is as small single fronted timber cottages in Moonee Ponds, the decorative timber work and especially the parapet ornamentation being characteristic of the late Boom period and unusual in the area (Criterion B) due in part to the natural deterioration of timber ornamentation overtime.
