Statement of Significance
Architecturally, a large, externally plain house of a typical style for the period, but located in a group of similarly comfortable residences: of local importance and regional interest.
Historically, little definite is known of Thomson or Joseph Whitehead; the area, however, epitomises in Essendon the domain of the next wealthy primary industrial class after the pastoralists: of local importance.
