The Brunswick Road West Precinct, comprising buildings at 483-507 Brunswick Road.
How is it significant?
The Brunswick Road West Precinct is of local architectural significance to the City of Moreland.
Why is it significant?
The Brunswick Road West Precinct is of local architectural significance as a residential precinct containing a group of largely intact substantial houses, which display a range of styles popular in the Inter-War and immediate Post-War period. Their elevated sites are distinctive and their terraced gardens provide a clear view of these houses from the main road. The houses are generally single-storey (with some garages below), and approximately half of the houses are bungalows. 483 Brunswick Road is a particularly large bungalow that is built with the typical combination of clinker brick and render work. 485 Brunswick Road is an example of the Spanish Mission style while 487 is an elaborate example of late Moderne in cream brick and 507 an example of the English Domestic Revival style.

Brunswick Road West - Physical Description 1
Address: 483-507 Brunswick Road
The Brunswick Road West Precinct is a residential area comprising a small group of large houses built on elevated sites on the north side of Brunswick Road. The houses, which date from the inter-War and immediate post-War period, are generally single-storey, although some have garages underneath. Stylistically, approximately half the houses (Nos. 483, 489-491, 495, 497 and 505) are bungalows , No 483 is a particularly large bungalow with a low, spreading gable over the front porch, which has a shingled gable-end and shallow arched opening. Its use of a combination of face clinker brick and rendered brick is typical of the style. This house also retains its original clinker brick fence with rendered capping. No. 485 is an example of the Spanish Mission style, No. 507 English Domestic Revival, with steeply pitched gabled roofs and arched openings, and No. 487 an elaborate example of late Moderne in cream brick.Garden designs of these properties reflect the topography, and many gardens are terraced. Some retain original or traditional plantings. The Precinct has no street planting. Kerbs and gutters are concrete.
