House, Newall Street, MARNOO - Physical Description 1
The house in Newall Street, Marnoo, is set on an average-sized, long allotment, having a substantial front setback. The front is comprised by an open grassed area with some shrubs and perimeter flower beds, together with a central concrete pedestrian path. The front is bound by an introduced tubular steel and cyclone wire fence.
The single storey, horizontal timber weatherboard house is characterised by a simple hipped roof form, together with an elevated/broken back bullnosed verandah that projects towards the street frontage. An early face brick chimney with a soldier-coursed top adorns the roofline.
Narrow overhangs are features of the eaves. Other early features of the design include the central timber framed doorway, and the flanking timber framed double hung windows.
The tubular verandah posts appear to have been introduced.
