House, Newall Street, MARNOO - Physical Description 1
The house in Newall Street, Marnoo, neighbours other predominantly single storey, horizontal weatherboard residential buildings with pitched galvanised corrugated iron roofs. This building is generally in accord with the form, construction and setbacks of the significant places visually connected to it. It is set on averaged sized allotment for the area with sizeable front and side setbacks. The front garden consists of a lawned area with mature trees and shrubs. The front is bound by an introduced timber picket fence and gate, approximately 1500 mm high. The Late Victorian design of the house suggests that it was constructed in the late 19th or early 20th century. The symmetrical, single fronted, single storey, horizontal weatherboard Late Victorian styled house is characterised by a hipped roof form, together with a bullnosed verandah that projects towards the street frontage. These roof forms are clad in galvanised corrugated iron. Narrow overhangs are features of the eaves.
The house appears to have been relocated, for there is no evidence of an early brick chimney, the timber framed doorway is not centrally located (typical for Late Victorian styled single fronted houses) and the timber framed double hung windows may have been altered.
The front verandah is supported by introduced square timber columns
