Statement of Significance
"Yarmouth" and "Stratham" at nos. 1-3 Levien Street Essendon, were built on "Locke's Paddock" in 1889. They have historic and aesthetic importance. They are historically important (Criterion A) for their capacity to demonstrate Essendon's middle class suburban origins in the late Victorian Boom Period. They are aesthetically important (Criterion E) as unusual flamboyant villas of their type in the terraced manner, the window bays being distinguishing elements.
